Theon Greyjoy is forced to live in a family of enemies — the Starks. Robb allows himself to remind Theon about his position. Theon: «It’s your duty to represent your House when your father can’t» — Robb: «And it’s not your duty, because it’s not your House… Where’s Bran?» — Theon: «I don’t know. It’s not my House». Theon: «I could never be a Stark. Robb Stark always reminded me of that» — Ramsay: «He lorded it over you?» — Theon: «Didn’t have to. All he had to do was be. Be who he was born to be».

But also the father humiliates Theon. And is much stronger, than Robb Stark does. Balon Greyjoy: «Who gave you those clothes? Was it Ned Stark’s pleasure to make you his daughter?»

The sister humiliates Teon too. Yara: «You’re the one in skirts». Even with subordinates. Yara: «Congratulations on your first command».

And yet, Theon decides to serve the father. That is, Theon makes a choice: leaves a master who humiliates him for another master who humiliates him much stronger. As a result Theon gets another master who humiliates him even more cruelly.
